Dr. Carole Gilmore

“The more you read,
the more you know.
The more you know,
the smarter you grow.
The smarter you grow,
the stronger your voice,
when speaking your mind
or making your choice.”

Who is Dr. Carole Gilmore?

My path to becoming a counselor was driven by a deep desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. I pursued my education with passion, undertaking years of rigorous training and hands-on experience before finally achieving my goal of becoming a licensed mental health counselor.

As a counselor, I've been privileged to work with individuals and families from all walks of life. I've helped guide people through difficult life transitions, overcome personal challenges, and develop the skills needed to achieve their goals. Witnessing the resilience and inner strength of my clients as they faced their struggles has been both humbling and incredibly rewarding.

One of the most profound lessons I've learned is the power of human connection. Building trust and creating a safe, non-judgmental space is paramount in allowing clients to openly explore their thoughts and feelings without fear. This therapeutic alliance provides the foundation for clients to gain insight, develop coping strategies, and ultimately reach their desired outcomes.

While working as a counselor was immensely fulfilling, after years in the field, I was called to further my own education and growth. As I worked toward my doctorate, I transitioned from direct client counseling to providing clinical supervision to those pursuing licensure. I also began teaching at the university level and offering mediation and parenting facilitation services.

Being a counselor is not without its challenges, but it has always been deeply meaningful work. I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to help others directly, and now I take pride in supporting the next generation of counselors on their own journeys. It's an immense privilege to play a role in shaping compassionate mental health professionals.
